Basic Biscuit Crust Recipe
- 1 3/4 c. Unbleached or possibly whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Baking pwdr
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. Safflower or possibly soy margarine
- 3/4 c. Soy lowfat milk
- 2 tsp Honey or possibly maple syrup
- Sift flour, salt if you like, baking pwdr, and baking soda into a large bowl.
- Using a pastry blender or possibly fork, cut the margarine into the flour mix till it resembles coarse meal.
- In a measruing c., combine soy lowfat milk and honey or possibly syrup.
- Add in the liquid mix to the flour mix, stirring with a fork to create a stiff dough.
- Add in more buttermilk if dough is too dry.
- Knead lightly in bowl, about 3 to 5 min, till the dough is no longer sticky.
- Thenturn out onto lightly floured surface.Rollout into desired shape.
- Makes sufficient crust to cover a 9- by 12-inch baking pan.
