Economy Cake - Crosby Molasses

• 13 cup shortening
• 12 cup sugar
• 12 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 12 teaspoon allspice
• 12 cup molasses
• 1 12 cups flour
• 34 teaspoon salt
• 1 14 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 egg, unbeaten
• 23 cup sour milk

1. Cream shortening, sugar, baking soda, and spices.
2. Add molasses and 1/4 of the sifted flour, salt and baking powder.
3. Beat in egg.
4. Alternate sour milk with remaining flour mixture.
5. Bake in a well-greased, lightly floured 8-inch square pan 40 minutes at 350F.
