Baked Tofu Nuggets Recipe
- 16 ounce packaged hard or possibly extra-hard tofu, well liquid removed
- 1 lrg egg white
- 3 Tbsp. wheat germ
- 2 Tbsp. yellow cornmeal
- 1 tsp seasoned salt Marinara or possibly barbecue sauce, warmed Or possibly ketchup
- 6 KID-SIZE SERVINGS OVO-LACTO
- These breaded nuggets become hard and chewy as they bake.
- Kids will enjoy dipping them into their favorite sauce.
- Preheat oven to 400 F. Lightly oil non-stick baking sheet.
- Cut tofu into 1/2-inch-thick slices.
- Blot well between kitchen towels or possibly several layers of paper towels, then cut into 1/2-inch cubes.
- In shallow bowl, beat egg white with a fork.
- Add in tofu cubes; stir gently to coat.
- In small bowl, mix together wheat germ, cornmeal and seasoned salt till well combined.
- Add in tofu in small batches and toss till proportionately coated.
- Transfer tofu to prepared baking sheet, spacing well apart.
- Bake till golden brown and hard, 15 to 20 min, turning with spatula every 5 min.
- Serve warm with sauce for dipping or possibly topping.
