Fresh Apple Gingerbread

  1. Cream together butter and sugar.
  2. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  3. Blend in molasses.
  4. Mix flour, baking soda, salt and spices; add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with four mixture.
  5. Stir in apple.
  6. Pour into greased and floured 9x9 inch baking pan.
  7. Bake in preheated 350 F oven for 45 to 50 minutes, until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes and turn out onto rack.
  9. Serve warm with cream if desired.
