New York Cheddar Cheese Soup
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp. MSG
- 2 bouillon cubes
- 1 cup water
- 1 carrot, diced
- 4 cups milk
- 8 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- In a large saucepan cook onion and celery in butter for approximately five minutes.
- Blend in next five ingredients.
- Then add bouillon cubes, water and carrot.
- Bring to a boil and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.
- Add milk and heat almost to boiling.
- Watch carefully.
- Add cheese and stir until cheese is melted.
- Season to taste.
