Fried Walnuts

  1. Combine water and sugar in saucepan.
  2. Cook 5 minutes to make syrup.
  3. Place walnuts in jar with cover; top with syrup.
  4. Cool; cover; let stand overnight; drain.
  5. Heat oil in uncovered wok at 325 degrees (175 C.).
  6. Add nuts in batches; fry 1 to 2 minutes.
  7. Remove from oil with strainer.
  8. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve immediately.
