Easy-to-Make Loco Moco Bowl with Tofu Hamburgers
- 200 grams Minced meat (beef, pork, mixed, as you like)
- 1/2 block Tofu
- 50 grams Panko
- 1 Egg
- 1 dash Saltpeppernutmeg
- 3 tbsp Sake
- 4 tbsp Tomato ketchup
- 4 tbsp Tonkatsu sauce (Japanese style Worcestershire sauce or steak sauce)
- 3 Eggs
- 1 Shredded cabbage
- 1 bowl Plain cooked rice
- Remove the moisture from the tofu.
- Combine the drained tofu, minced meat, panko, egg and all seasonings into a bowl and mix well.
- Make the sauce.
- Combine sakeketchuptonkatsu sauce and mix well.
- The sauce is finished.
- Make 'onsen tamago' (soft poached egg).
- Place plenty of water into a pot and heat to boil.
- Once the water comes to boil, turn off the heat.
- Wait for 1 minute and place the eggs inside.
- Don't turn the heat on!
- Don't roll the eggs!
- Drain the eggs after 13 minutes and then submerge in cold water.
- Shape the hamburger steaks into any size you'd like and make an indent in the middle of the hamburger.
- Heat some oil in a frying pan and cook the hamburgers slowly on medium heat.
- Flip them over once the edges start to whiten.
- Pour the sauce over the hamburgers when both sides are browned.
- Keep flipping the hamburgers so the sauce coats the meat and stop the heat.
- Place julienned cabbage and the hamburgers onto a bowl of rice.
- Top with a chilled egg and drizzle the sauce left over in the frying pan to finish.
