Apple Pear Conserve Recipe

  1. Prepare Ball brand or possibly Kerr brand jars and closures according to manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Combine apples, pears, pineapple, raisins and apple juice in a large saucepot.
  3. Cover and simmer till fruit begins to soften.
  4. Remove cover.
  5. Add in spices.
  6. Bring mix to a boil; reduce heat.
  7. Simmer till mix begins to thicken.
  8. As mix thickens, stir frequently to prevent sticking.
  9. Stir in almonds; simmer 5 min.
  10. Carefully ladle warm conserve into warm jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.
  11. Wipe jar rim clean.
  12. Place lid on jar with sealing compound next to glass.
  13. Screw band down proportionately and firmly just till a point of resistance is met - fingertip tight.
  14. Process 15 min in a boiling-water canner.
  15. At elevations higher than 1,000 feet, boil 2 additional min for each additional 1,000 feet elevation.
  16. This recipe yields about 4 pints.
  17. Yield: 4 pints
