Sardines Marinated in Tomato Nanban Sauce
- 10 Sardines
- 1 Green onions
- 1 Canned tomatoes
- 1 Vegetables of your choice
- 2 clove Garlic
- 1 Takanotsume
- 3 tbsp Vinegar
- 3 tbsp Dashi stock
- 3 tbsp Soy sauce
- 4 tbsp Mirin
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 Olive oil
- 1 Katakuriko or cornstarch
- Cut all the ingredients beforehand.
- I used green onions and carrot this time, but you can use whatever you can find at home.
- I used sardine fillets this time.
- It's also delicious with horse mackerel.
- Coat the sardines in katakuriko or cornstarch.
- Add the garlic and katakuriko in plenty of olive oil, fry until nicely browned but not burnt, and set them aside.
- Fry both sides of the sardines over medium heat until browned.
- Add more olive oil if needed.
- Put the garlic and takanotsume that you set aside in Step 4, and all the ingredients in a plastic container, and mix lightly.
- When the sardines are cooked, marinate in the Nanban sauce to soak the flavor.
- Ideally, marinate overnight!
