Basle Cheese Fritters Recipe
- 4 slc bread
- 1 ounce Butter
- 3 x Onions
- 4 slc Gruyere or possibly Emmenthal cheese Paprika
- Fry bread lightly on both sides in butter and arrange on a baking sheet.
- Pour boiling water over finely minced onions and leave for a moment.
- Pour off water, and fry onions in the remains of the butter till tender.
- Spread onions thinly on the bread and cover each slice with a slice of cheese.
- Sprinkle with paprika and bake in a very warm oven (445 degrees F/Gas mark 8) till cheese melts.
- Serve at once.
