Basle Cheese Fritters Recipe

  1. Fry bread lightly on both sides in butter and arrange on a baking sheet.
  2. Pour boiling water over finely minced onions and leave for a moment.
  3. Pour off water, and fry onions in the remains of the butter till tender.
  4. Spread onions thinly on the bread and cover each slice with a slice of cheese.
  5. Sprinkle with paprika and bake in a very warm oven (445 degrees F/Gas mark 8) till cheese melts.
  6. Serve at once.
