German Cream Cheese Brownies
- 8 oz. German sweet chocolate
- 6 tbsp. butter
- 4 tbsp. butter, softened
- 6 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1-1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup Crisco
- 1 pkg. (1 lb.) powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. peppermint flavoring
- 2 tsp. green food coloring
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tbsp. milk
- In saucepan, melt together German sweet chocolate and 6 tbsp.
- butter.
- Allow to cool.
- In mixing bowl, cream together 4 tbsp.
- butter and cream cheese.
- Add 1/2 cup sugar.
- Blend in 2 eggs, 2 tbsp.
- flour and vanilla.
- Set aside.
- To cooled chocolate mixture, add 4 eggs; beat well.
- Gradually add 1-1/2 cups sugar, 1 cup flour, baking powder, salt, almond extract and nuts.
- Measure 2 cups of chocolate mixture and set aside.
- Spread remaining chocolate batter in a greased 9x13 pan.
- Top with cream cheese mixture.
- Drop measured chocolate batter by spoonfuls onto cheese mixture.
- Swirl with spatula to marble.
- Bake at 350F for 35-40 minutes.
- Mint Icing: Cream Crisco and add milk and peppermint flavoring.
- Then blend in powdered sugar.
- Blend until smooth.
- Add green food coloring to make a light green shade.
- Spread over chocolate cream cheese brownies.
