Slow Cooker Pinto Beans
- 1- 1/2 pound Dried Pinto Beans
- 1 whole Ham Hock
- 1 cup Yellow Onion, Chopped
- 2 Tablespoons Fresh Garlic, Minced
- 12 cups Hot Water
- 1 Tablespoon Sea Salt
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Ground Black Pepper
- Sort through pinto beans for any stones or bad beans.
- Rinse the beans thoroughly.
- Put the ham hock, onion and garlic in the bottom of a slow cooker (3 to 4-quart size).
- Add beans to the cooker.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour in water and do not stir.
- Cook for 6 hours on high or 10 hours on low.
- If water level drops below the beans, add more hot water but try not to uncover them too much.
- You may need to add more salt and pepper when they are cooked.
- Use your own judgment.
