Burbling Blood Blondies
- 1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon double-acting baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Melt the butter in a sauce pan.
- Turn off the heat.
- Stir in the brown sugar there is no need to melt the sugar, it will be the consistency of wet sand.
- Stir in the egg and then the vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, mix the baking powder with the salt and the flour.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ones.
- Pour the batter into a buttered 10x7 baking dish.
- It is a stiff batter and you may need to gently help it to the edges of the pan with a rubber spatula.
- It will be a thin layer.
- Break chocolate into pieces then coarsely chop the pieces with a sharp knife.
- It is fine if some are small and some are large.
- Sprinkle the pieces over the top of the batter.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Do not over bake.
- Let brownies cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting into rectangles, about 1.5 inches wide.
