Burbling Blood Blondies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Melt the butter in a sauce pan.
  3. Turn off the heat.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar there is no need to melt the sugar, it will be the consistency of wet sand.
  5. Stir in the egg and then the vanilla.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix the baking powder with the salt and the flour.
  7. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ones.
  8. Pour the batter into a buttered 10x7 baking dish.
  9. It is a stiff batter and you may need to gently help it to the edges of the pan with a rubber spatula.
  10. It will be a thin layer.
  11. Break chocolate into pieces then coarsely chop the pieces with a sharp knife.
  12. It is fine if some are small and some are large.
  13. Sprinkle the pieces over the top of the batter.
  14. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  15. Do not over bake.
  16. Let brownies cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting into rectangles, about 1.5 inches wide.
