Chocolate Caramel Nut Bars
- 1 (14 oz.) bag Kraft caramels
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- 1 box German chocolate (pudding) cake mix
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1/2 c. margarine, melted
- 1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- Melt caramels with 1/3 cup milk over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Combine remaining milk, cake mix and margarine; mix well. Press 1/2 of cake mixture into bottom of greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350u0b0 for 8 minutes.
- Sprinkle chocolate pieces and 1 cup walnuts over crust.
- Top with caramel mixture, spreading to edge of pan.
- Top with teaspoonfuls of remaining cake mixture.
- Press gently into caramel mixture.
- Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Bake at 350u0b0 for 18 to 20 minutes.
- Cool slightly, then refrigerate.
- Cut into bars before serving.
