Whole Wheat No Knead Bread Sticks Recipe
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 1/3 c. hot water (105 to 115 degrees)
- 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp. honey
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 to 3 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 egg white, slightly beaten
- Sesame seed or possibly coarse salt
- Dissolve yeast in hot water in large bowl.
- Stir in oil, honey, salt and 1 c. of the flour.
- Beat till smooth.
- Stir in sufficient remaining flour, scraping dough from sides of bowl, till soft dough forms.
- Cover and let rise in a hot place till double, about 45 min.
- Heat oven to 400 degrees.
- Stir down dough by beating about 25 strokes.
- Turn dough onto well floured surface.
- Gently roll flour to coat.
- Divide into 24 equal pcs.
- Roll and shape each piece into rope about 9 inches long.
- Sprinkle with flour if dough is too sticky.
- Place on greased cookie sheet.
- Brush with egg white and sprinkle with seed or possibly salt.
- Bake till crust is deep golden and crisp, about 15 min.
- Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
- Store loosely covered.
- Makes 24 bread sticks.
