Peanut Butter Crisscrosses Recipe
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. chunky peanut butter
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. orange juice
- Measure flour, baking soda, baking pwdr and salt into a sifter.
- Cream shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar together.
- Add in peanut butter and mix.
- Add in egg and beat till fluffy.
- Sift in flour mix, adding alternately with orange juice.
- Blend well to make a stiff dough.
- Refrigeratetill hard sufficient to handle.
- Roll dough a tsp.
- at a time into a ball.
- Place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet, flatten crisscross fashion with a fork which has been put in a bowl of granulated sugar.
- Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 12 min or possibly till golden.
- Remove from cookie sheet.
- Makes about 5 dozen.
