The Buried Under Cheeseburger Salad
- 1 sesame bun top, cubed
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles
- Splash Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1 pound ground beef, 80-percent lean
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 4 slices Cheddar
- 2 heads romaine, chopped
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped cooked bacon
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- For the croutons: Place the cubed sesame bun on a baking sheet and bake until toasted, about 10 minutes.
- Let cool.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- For the dressing: In a mixing bowl, combine all of the salad dressing ingredients and whisk together.
- Add salt and pepper, to taste.
- For the burgers: Divide the ground beef into 4 equal patties, season with salt and pepper, and cook on the grill to your preferred doneness.
- Melt a slice of Cheddar on each.
- For the salad: In a mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients for the salad and toss with the dressing and croutons.
- To serve, place a cheeseburger in the center of each plate and top with the salad.
