Chili Beans for a Crowd

  1. Saute onions until translucent.
  2. Sprinkle salt in stockpot brown beef over medium high heat.
  3. Grind cumin and fennel add to meat with onion garlic, chili powder, cocoa and sugar.
  4. Stir in tomatoes andamp; tomato sauce and 4 cups water.
  5. Bring to a boil reduce heat to simmer stir occasionally for 3 1/2 hours.
  6. If its too thick add water.
  7. BEANS In heavy pot cook bacon until crisp.
  8. Add beans, garlic, salt and water.
  9. Bring to a boil over moderate heat.
  10. Reduce heat andamp; simmer, stir occasionally until beans are tender, about 3 1/2 hours.
  11. Use slotted spoon to add beans to chili.
