Honey Oatmeal Wheat Bread Recipe
- 3 c. boiling water
- 1 1/2 c. oatmeal
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 3 Packages dry yeast
- 3/4 c. honey
- 6 tbsp. oil
- 3 teaspoon salt
- 6 c. whole wheat flour
- 3 c. flour
- Place oatmeal in large mixing bowl.
- Pour boiling water over it; let cold till lukewarm.
- Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c. water; let stand 5 min.
- Add in dissolved yeast to oatmeal mix.
- Add in honey and oil, blend.
- Combine flour sand salt.
- Add in flours to oatmeal mix and mix thoroughly to create a soft dough.
- Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead 5 - 10 min.
- Form into loaves and place in greased pans.
- Let rise 30 min.
- Bake 1 hour in 325 degree oven.
- Cold on racks.
- For soft crust, brush loaf tops with butter while warm.
- Makes 2 or possibly 3 loaves.
