Chocolate Shoo Fly Pie

  1. Combine chocolate syrup, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and water in bowl and gently mix.
  2. Add vanilla and set aside.
  3. Combine flour, sugar, remaining baking soda and salt in separate bowl.
  4. Gently cut in butter with pastry cutter until crumbs are formed.
  5. Set aside 1 cup of crumb mixture.
  6. Pour 1 cup of chocolate mixture into unbaked pie shell.
  7. Pour remaining chocolate mixture into bowl with crumb mixture and gentle stir.
  8. Pour mixture into pie shell and sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top.
  9. Sprinkle the top with cinnamon.
  10. Bake in preheated oven at 375F for 1 hour.
  11. Can be served with whip cream on top.
