Fresh Broccoli with Olive Oil and Lemon - Quick and Easy MICROWAVE Broccoli

  1. Wash broccoli and discard the tough portions of stalk.
  2. Split stalks lengthwise to uniform sizes for more even cooking.
  3. For an even more tender broccoli, peel the stalks with a paring knife before cooking.
  4. Check to make sure for any tender sweet stalk meat from the discarded stalks as well.
  5. They are great chopped in salads.
  6. Arrange broccoli spears with stalks to the outside of the dish and flowerets in the center.
  7. Add the water to the dish.
  8. Cover and cook on full power 6-7 minutes.
  9. Let stand for three minutes.
  10. Just prior to serving, sprinkle extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and salt and pepper over the broccoli.
  11. Garnish with chopped sweet red pepper or a little bit of lemon zest.
