Date and Cranberries Bars
- 1 cup Pitted Dates
- 1 cup Dried Cranberries
- 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Butter
- 1/2 cups Honey
- 2 cups Water
- 1 teaspoon Orange Blossom Water (optional)
- 3 cups Large Oats
- 1/4 cups Spelt Flour
- 1/4 cups Bread Flour
- In a saucepan, cook dates, cranberries, sugar, butter and honey (cover with enough water) until you get fruits re-hydrated and the mixture syrupy.
- Add the orange blossom water.
- In a bowl, mix oats, flours (I didnt, but you could add a bit of salt to sharpen the taste)
- Add the fruit compote to the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
- I cooked it in a glass container covered with a teflon sheet at 350 F for 30 minutes.
- When cooked, reverse the dish onto a board, wait 10 minutes and cut in pieces.
- Why the orange blossom water??
- Thats the taste i love in good Baklava.
