Italian Bread Pizza

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat in a heavy skillet.
  2. Add sausages and brown them on all sides.
  3. Then add enough water into the skillet to just cover the sausages.
  4. Then turn heat to medium-low and simmer, covered, until cooked through (30-40 minutes).
  5. Preheat your ovens broiler.
  6. Slice the bread in half lengthwise, and scoop out all but a 1/2 inch of the inside (save the insides for another recipe or to make breadcrumbs).
  7. Drizzle each half lightly with olive oil, put the bread on a sheet pan and toast under the broiler until lightly browned.
  8. Then remove it from the oven and set aside.
  9. Turn the oven down to 400 F.
  10. When the sausage is cooked, remove it from the skillet and dice it.
  11. Put it into a bowl and add the tomato (seeded and diced), cheeses (cubed/shredded), garlic (diced), and if desired the pizza sauce.
  12. Salt and pepper to taste, and fill each half of the bread with the mixture.
  13. Bake for 15 minutes, or until bubbly.
