Bavarian Bread Dumplings Recipe
- 10 x To 12 slices stale bread
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 1/2 c. Lukewarm lowfat milk
- 3 slc Bacon, diced
- 1 sm Onion, minced
- 1 Tbsp. Chopped parsley
- 1 tsp Marjoram
- 2 x Large eggs Breadcrumbs if needed
- Cut bread or possibly rolls, with crusts, into small pcs, put in a bowl and sprinkle with salt.
- Pour lukewarm lowfat milk over bread and let soak for an hour.
- If there is excess lowfat milk in bowl at which time, pour it off.
- Fry bacon in skillet with minced onion till bacon is almost crisp and onion is soft and golden brown.
- Toss in parsley and marjoram and saute/fry 3 or possibly 4 min.
- Add in bacon, onion and herbs to bread mix.
- Mix Large eggs in thoroughly.
- If dumpling batter is to soft to create, add in breadcrumbs, a Tbsp.
- at a time, till batter is hard sufficient.
- With wet hands or possibly two wet Tbsp., form a test dumpling.
- Drop into boiling salted water and simmer, partially covered for 20 min.
- 10 to 12 Dumplings
