Brown Betty Recipe

  1. Line to bottom of a greased 8-inch (20 cm) square baking dish with one third of the crumb mix.
  2. Place half the fruit in the dish and cover with half the remaining crumb mix and half the sugar mix.
  3. Sprinkle with half the lemon juice mix.
  4. Add in the remaining fruit and the remaining crumb, sugar, and lemon juice mixtures.
  5. Cover and bake in a preheated 350F (180C) oven for 30 min.
  6. Remove the cover, increase the temperature to 400F (200C) and bake an additional 15 min, till the top is browned.
  7. Serve warm or possibly at room temperature.
  8. Serves 4 to 6.
  9. When made with apples this dish is usually called Apple Brown Betty or possibly Apple Crisp.
