Sunflower Twist
- 300 g strong white flour
- 200 g whole meal flour
- 7 g dry yeast
- 1 12 teaspoons salt
- 250 ml luke warm water, you may not need all this water, it is a guide only
- 100 ml apple juice
- 14 cup oil
- 100 g sunflower seeds
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- Place white flour, wholemeal flour, yeast and salt into stand mixer (Obviously this can be done by hand to) mix to combine dry ingredients.
- Add apple juice, oil and enough water to get a soft dough.
- Add about 2/3 of the sunflower seeds.Kneed for about 5 minutes.
- Spray a bowl with oil place dough in and spray the top with oil, cover with plastic wrap and leave in a warm place to double in size about 1 hour.
- Remove the dough from the bowl onto a flowered surface, divide in half.
- Shape each piece into a sausage about 25cm long.
- Twist the two sausages together, firmly pinching the ends.
- Place on cookin tray and leave to rise for 1hour.
- Pre heat oven to 230C.
- Beat egg with about 1table spoon of tap water and brush over the dough, sprinkle with remaining sunflowers.
- Bake in pre heated oven for 10 min then reduce temp to 200 C and bake for a further 20 minute.
