Margarita Granita

  1. Stir the water and sugar in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Increase the heat and bring to a boil.
  3. Pour into medium bowl.
  4. Stir in the lime juice, agave nectar, tequila and lime peel.
  5. Refrigerate until cold, about 2 hours.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a container; cover and freeze until firm, about 2 hours.
  7. (Can be prepared 2 days ahead and kept frozen.)
  8. Freeze 4 margarita glasses for 1 hour.
  9. Scrape the granita into the frozen glasses and serve immediately.
