Cheese and pear yoghurt bread. (Use gms measurements )
- 370 grams self raising flour
- 130 grams whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 40 grams butter (melted)
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 large pear
- 100 grams cheese (cubed)
- 350 ml plain yoghurt
- Place flours in bowl
- Add salt and bicarb and mix together
- Make a well in flour and add butter and honey, mix well.
- Add cheese and pear and mix
- Add yoghurt and mix to a dough
- When well mixed turn out onto floured surface and knead for one min
- Form into a ball with a smooth top and slightly flatten or seperate into 4 and roll into balls and place on baking just touching.
- Cut a cross into bread using a wooden spoon handle almost all the way through for even bake
- Flour top
- Make sure bread has room to expand in oven
- Bake for 40 to 45 mins at 200c checking after 30 mins
- Check with skewer in centre, if in doubt leave for 45 mins but cover top with foil.
- This is a robust loaf and if centre not baked tip upside down and rebake for 5 min untill you get a hollow sound when tapped.
- Remove and allow to cool.....butter...enjoy!
