Giddy-Up Horse Cake
- 1 pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix
- 1-1/2 pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate (6 oz.), broken into pieces
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 4 ring-shaped hard candies (2 white, 2 red)
- 25 candy-coated chocolate pieces (assorted colors)
- 3 pieces string licorice (8 inch each)
- Prepare cake batter and bake as directed on package for 13x9-inch pan, lining pan with foil sprayed with cooking spray before adding batter.
- Cool cake in pan 10 min.
- ; invert onto wire rack.
- Remove pan; cool cake completely.
- Cut cake into pieces as shown in both diagram and photo.
- Arrange on platter for horse's head and neck; set aside.
- Microwave chocolate and cream in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 to 2 min.
- or until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after each minute.
- Remove 1/4 cup chocolate mixture; spoon into small resealable plastic bag.
- Set aside.
- Add powdered sugar to remaining chocolate mixture; whisk until smooth and of spreading consistency.
- Spread onto cake.
- Decorate with candies as shown in photo.
- Cut small piece off 1 bottom corner of bag; use to pipe chocolate onto cake for the horse's mane.
