Dot's Biscuits Recipe
- 1 c. self-rising flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt (optional)
- 2 tbsp. shortening (I like corn oil)
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- Healthy pinch of soda
- Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening with a pastry blender till mix resembles coarse meal.
- Add in lowfat milk, stirring till dry ingredients are moistened.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface, and knead lightly 4 or possibly 5 times.
- Bake at 425-450 degrees till done.
- Yield: 8 biscuits.
