Oatmeal Butterscotch Chews
- 1 1/4 cups vegetable shortening
- 3/4 cup sugar granulated
- 3/4 cup brown sugar lightly-packed
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 each eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups flour, all-purpose
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups oats, quick cooking
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 2 each chocolate bars toffee-kind, crisp, chopped
- Preheat oven to 375F (190C).
- Grease baking sheet lightly with shortening.
- Cream shortening, sugars, syrup, egg and light and creamy.
- Combine flour, baking soda and salt.
- Gradually add to creamed mixture on low speed, mixing until blended.
- Stir in remaining ingredients.
- Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place on greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 375F (190C) F for 7 to 8 minutes for chewy cookies.
