Ground Turkey Bolognese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion, diced finely
- 6 clove crushed garlic
- 1 large carrot, peeled and finely grated
- 2 celery ribs, finely diced
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 lb small portabella mushrooms, cleaned and cut into quarters
- 2 lb ground turkey
- 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tbsp steak seasoning (I use Penzey's or Mc Cormick)
- 1 1/2 tsp garlic salt (or 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic)
- 2 (14 ounce) cans diced tomatoes, or 2 pounds fresh tomatoes diced and seeded
- Heat the oil in a medium pot over medium heat.
- Add the onion and cook until soft.
- Add the garlic and cook for about 2 minutes, until fragrant.
- Add the celery and carrot and cook until tender, about 7 to 10 minutes.
- Add the wine, mushrooms and tomatoes.
- Bring to a simmer.
- Cover and continue to cook.
- In a pan, cook the turkey, sprinkling it with steak seasoning and garlic salt, breaking it up into small pieces.
- Drain well.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce and stir.
- Add the meat to the sauce and simmer for another 30 minutes.
- Serve with whatever pasta you prefer and Parmesan cheese.
