Cheater Kitchen Burgers

  1. HEAT the broiler.
  2. Place a large rimmed baking sheet in the oven to heat.
  3. COMBINE the meat, Worcestershire sauce, dry rub, and bottled smoke in a large bowl and mix well.
  4. DIVIDE the meat into 6 equal portions.
  5. Form patties about 1 inch thick (or whatever size you like).
  6. Carefully place the patties on the hot baking sheet.
  7. BROIL the burgers to your liking, 8 to 10 minutes.
  8. Flip them only if you feel like it.
  9. HEAT the oven to 450F.
  10. COMBINE the meat, Worcestershire sauce, dry rub, and bottled smoke in a large bowl and mix well.
  11. DIVIDE the meat into 6 equal portions.
  12. Form patties about 1 inch thick.
  13. BROWN the burgers, three at a time, in a very hot skillet (cast iron works best) over high heat, about 2 minutes per side.
  14. Transfer all the burgers to a large rimmed baking sheet.
  15. FINISH the burgers in the oven until cooked to your liking.
  16. Check the internal temperature after 5 minutes.
