Fish tacos Recipe
- 1 lb Frozen ahi or albacore tuna (Trader Joe's has great frozen ahi)
- 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 red or green bell pepper
- 3-4 cloves of garlic
- 1/4 cup The Pepper Plant Original California style Hot pepper sauce (substitute any hot sauce according to your whims)
- Ground cumin powder
- Cayenne peppers
- tortillas
- grated cheese
- Chop the onion and pepper into bite size pieces.
- Chop the garlic into whatever size you like.
- Mine is usually "chunky"
- Cut the tuna into 1/4" thick X 1/2" wide slices
- Turn your burner to a low medium heat, add the oil and once its warm add the onions.
- Cook until translucent.
- Add the garlic stir together and cook for another couple of minutes.
- Add the pepper and cook for another 3-4 minutes
- At this point, I usually add some ground cumin and a little cayenne pepper to the sauteed vegetables.
- I find these really adds to the overall taste.
- You might think that it's too much.
- Both spices are added again.
- Now add the tuna, stir once in awhile until the fish is cooked .
- This shouldn't take more than a few minutes.
- There's no reason to overcook this.
- Now add more cumin and cayenne as well as about a teaspoon of salt.
- Stir
- Now add the Pepper sauce and stir together well.
- I sometimes will also add some salsa at this point if it seems dry.
- Remove from the heat, fill a tortilla, add cheese, and eat!
