Family Favorite Beef Stew
- 1 lb stew beef chunk, cut up
- 14 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil (optional)
- 1 (1 1/4 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
- 3 cups vegetable juice (tomato based)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3 medium carrots, cut in thick slices
- 3 medium potatoes, cubed, relatively same size as carrot pieces
- salt and pepper
- Place vegetables in bottom of crock pot.
- Toss beef with flour, shake off excess.
- Saute beef in hot oil, optional step but recommended.
- Place beef on top of vegetables Mix juice, onion soup mix, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce; pour on top of mixture.
- Cover and cook on high 20-30 minutes.
- (This is a good time to clean up, or get ready for your day).
- Finish cooking on low for 8 hours.
- Mix in salt and pepper to taste and serve.
