Marzipan Twist.
- 14 cup sugar
- 12 cup milk
- 1.5 (1/3 ounce) packages dry yeast
- 3 cups flour
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 12 teaspoon lemon zest
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups ground almonds
- 2 egg whites
- 14 cup sugar
- 12 teaspoon vanilla
- For dough, stir 1 tsp sugar with milk adn sprinkle with yeast.
- Let sit 5 minutes until frothy.
- Sift flour, sugar and salt.
- Add melted butter and combine with flour.
- Knead on a floured surface cover and let rise for 40 minutes.
- Mix together almonds, egg white, sugar and vanilla.
- Roll out dough into a 18x12-inch rectangle, spread with filling.
- Roll up lengthwise and cut into 2 equal lengths.
- Twist together.
- Place on baking sheet and let rise 15 minutes.
- Bake at 400F degrees for 35 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm.
