Molasses Oatmeal Cookies Recipe
- 1 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. unsulphered molasses
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 1/2 c. quick oats, uncooked
- 3/4 c. raisins
- 3/4 c. minced nuts
- Set oven at 350 degrees.
- Sift flour, baking soda, baking pwdr, salt, and spices into bowl.
- Add in remaining ingredients and blend.
- To make jumbo cookies, use 1/4 c. dough for each cookie; place on ungreased baking sheets and bake 15 min.
- For smaller cookies, drop by heaping tsp.
- and bake 12 min.
- Recipes should yield about 18 large cookies or possibly 48 small ones.
- These taste like oatmeal cookies flavored with molasses.
- If you use black strap molasses, the cookies taste like molasses cookies with oatmeal.
- I like it both ways!
