Bacon Barbecue Glaze Recipe
- 1 lb bacon diced
- 1 c. minced yellow onions
- 1/4 c. tomato paste
- 1 c. apple cider vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. warm sauce
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- Place the bacon in a medium pot and cook till golden and the fat is rendered, about 5 min.
- Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels.
- Remove all but 1/4 c. of bacon fat from the pan.
- Add in the onions and cook, stirring, till the onions are soft, 4 min.
- Add in the tomato paste and stir to incorporate.
- Add in the vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire, and warm sauce.
- Stir well and bring to a boil.
- Add in the sugar, salt, red pepper, and cooked bacon, and cook at a boil till the sugar is dissolved, about 3 min.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer till thickened, 7 to 8 min.
- Remove from the heat.
- With a hand-held immersion blender or possibly in a food processor, lightly pulse to finely chop the bacon.
- Transfer to a bowl till ready to use.
