Rootbeer Pulled Pork
- 4 pounds Pork Butt
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1 teaspoon Cracked Pepper
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 3 whole Onions; Peeled And Cut In Wedges
- 2 teaspoons Minced Garlic
- 5 cups Root Beer, Not Diet, Divided
- 1 bottle (12 Oz. Bottle) Chili Sauce (heinz)
- 1/2 teaspoons Hot Sauce (lousiana Style)
- 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
- 1 whole Pickled Jalapeno Pepper, Diced (optional)
- Rub the roast all over with the salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large pan and sear all sides.
- Place roast in a slow cooker with onion wedges, garlic and 1 cup root beer.
- Set on low and cook for 8 hours (5 hours if you set it on high).
- Remove pork to a plate and shred pork with two forks.
- Prepare the sauce.
- In a medium sauce pan, place the remaining 4 cups root beer, chili sauce, hot sauce, garlic and jalapeno pepper if using.
- Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer.
- Simmer on low for about 45 minutes stirring often until sauce thickens.
- Toss the sauce into the shredded pork.
- Serve on a toasted bun.
- Enjoy.
