Double Frosted Bourbon Brownies

  1. Brownie Layer:.
  2. Sift dry ingredients.
  3. Combine sugar, shortening, and water in pan.
  4. Heat, stirring constantly until sugar melts and mixture boils.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips and vanilla until smooth.
  7. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  8. Stir in dry mixture and nuts.
  9. Spread evenly in 9x9x2 inch pan.
  10. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes or until shiny and firm on top.
  11. Remove from oven and sprinkle bourbon on top while still hot.
  12. Cool completely.
  13. White Frosting Layer: Beat butter and vanilla until creamy.
  14. Add sugar gradually until smooth.
  15. Spread evenly on top of brownie layer.
  16. Chill until firm.
  17. Chocolate Glaze Layer: Melt chocolate and shortening in double boiler or in microwave with very low power.
  18. Spread glaze on top.
  19. Cut in squares.
  20. Chill until served.
