Beef Or Pork Chow Mein Recipe
- 1 pound grnd beef or possibly pork
- 1 med. onion, minced
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 c. diced celery
- 1 c. water
- 1 (16 ounce.) can mixed Chinese vegetables, liquid removed
- 1 (16 ounce.) liquid removed bean sprouts
- 1 (4 ounce.) can sliced mushrooms
- 1 (13 1/2 ounce.) can pineapple tidbits or possibly chunks, reserve liquid
- 2 tbsp. cool water
- 2 tbsp. corn starch
- 1 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1/4 c. pineapple liquid
- Coat meat and onion in butter till browned in a large fry pan.
- Add in salt, celery and 1 c. water.
- Bring to boil, cover and simmer till celery is crisp but soft (10 min).
- Add in Chinese vegetables, bean sprouts, mushrooms, and pineapple and heat till warm.
- Combine cool water and corn starch.
- stir in soy sauce and pineapple liquid and add in to meat mix.
- Cook till slightly thickened, stirring constantly.
- Serve warm with cooked rice, chow mein noodles.
- Serves 4.
