Texas Red Chili Recipe
- 1 pound grnd beef
- 1 med. onion, minced
- 1 1/2 tbsp. chili pwdr
- 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic pwdr
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon grnd cumin
- 1 tbsp. vinegar
- 1 (1 lb.) can tomato sauce
- 2 c. water
- 2 c. pinto beans, cooked or possibly 1 can ranch style beans
- In a Dutch oven, brown grnd beef and onion.
- Drain off fat.
- Add in vinegar and seasonings.
- Stir well.
- Add in tomato sauce, beans and water.
- Simmer over low heat 30 min.
- If you prefer thick chili, put 2 Tbsp.
- flour in a jar, add in 1/2 c. water, cover and shake till mixed.
- Pour into chili and stir well.
- Serve with slices of longhorn cheese, cool crisp apple and Pan de Lote.
- The next day put on warm dogs for a real Coney Island Dog.
