Superb Grilled Steaks
- 4 rib eye steaks (or whatever steak you prefer)
- kosher salt (to taste)
- fresh ground black pepper (to taste)
- marinade
- 1 (12 ounce) can cherry cola
- 12 ounces Dale's Steak Seasoning (liquid marinade)
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or crushed red pepper)
- In large glass baking dish, mix all of the marinade ingredients.
- Place steaks in the marinade and let them sit for 3-4 hours, turning occasionally.
- If the steaks sit too long, the cola will break the steaks down too much.
- Prepare the grill (I prefer charcoal, but you can use wood or gas).
- While the coals are getting hot, take the steaks out of the marinade.
- Season both sides of the steak generously with kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper.
- Steaks need to be close to room temperature when placing on the grill to ensure even cooking, so let sit out for about half an hour before grilling.
- Before placing steaks on the grill, pat both sides of the steak dry with a paper towel.
- This wipes off the excess marinade and helps the steak to brown properly.
- Grill steaks to desired doneness, only flipping once during cooking.
- Use tongs to flip the steaks, as a fork will puncture the steak and release very important juices.
- Once steaks are done, remove from grill and cover loosely with foil for 5 minutes before eating.
- This helps the juices redistribute througout the steak.
- Serve and enjoy!
