Apple Danish Recipe

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening till mix resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Combine egg yolk and lowfat milk; add in to flour mix.
  3. Stir just till dough clings together.
  4. Divide dough in half.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, foll half of dough into a 15" X 10" rectangle; transfer to a greased 15 X 10" baking pan.
  6. Set aside.
  7. In another bowl, toss together the filling ingredients; spoon over pastry in pan.
  8. Roll out remaining dough to another 15" X 10" rectangle.
  9. Place over filling.
  10. Brush with egg white.
  11. Bake at 375 degrees F for 40 min or possibly till golden.
  12. Cold on wire rack.
  13. Combine the powdered sugar and sufficient water to achieve a drizzling consistency.
  14. Drizzle over hot pastry.
  15. Cut into squares.
  16. Serve hot or possibly cool.
  17. Delicious!
  18. Serves: 20-26 servings, depending on size of cut squares.
