Rustic Homemade Pizza Sauce
- 1 can (14.5 Oz.) Diced Tomatoes
- 1 can (8 0z.) Tomato Sauce
- 2 teaspoons Dried Minced Onion
- 1 teaspoon Dried Minced Garlic
- 1- 1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasonings
- 1 teaspoon Salt, Or To Taste
- 1/4 teaspoons Pepper To Taste
- Puree diced tomatoes to desired consistency (we like ours a bit chunky).
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, onion, garlic, Italian seasonings, salt and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Allow to simmer over medium-low heat for 15 minutes; continue stirring occasionally.
- If sauce is splattering, loosely cover with a screen or off-set lid.
- Wonderful on pizza or as a dipping sauce.
- Fresh onion and garlic are also delicious; saute in a bit of olive oil til soft and then add remaining ingredients.
- And if you have fresh herbs, all the better!
- You can drain juice off tomatoes before pureeing, if you like a thicker sauce.
- Recipe freezes and doubles well.
