Rule Brittania and Apple Pie

  1. Blend the shortening with the salt and flour to make a fine crumb, add just enough water to bring the mix together, too much water and you will have dough.
  2. Wrap in foil and refrigerate, while preparing the apples filling.
  3. In a pot melt the butter over low heat, do not let it brown.
  4. Peel and slice the apples.
  5. Add to the pan with the cloves.
  6. cook over low heat till the apples are soft.
  7. Grease and line a pie dish with 2/3 of the pastry.
  8. Fill the pastry case with the apple mix.
  9. Top with the remaining pastry, brush with milk and sprinkle the sugar over the top.
  10. Bake in oven 200c till golden brown.
