The Best Oatmeal Cookies
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/2 c. quick rolled oats
- 3/4 c. finely crushed walnuts or pecans
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Cream together shortening, white sugar and brown sugar. Add egg.
- Sift together
- flour,
- soda
- and
- cinnamon.
- Add
- to first mixture.
- Then add
- oats, walnuts or pecans and vanilla. Chill for 1 hour;
- then
- put
- walnut-size
- pieces on a greased cookie sheet. Butter the bottom
- of a small glass.
- Dip it in granulated sugar and
- flatten
- each
- little
- piece.
- You don't need to rebutter glass
- bottom;
- just resugar each time.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 10 minutes.
