Sweet Pickles - Shirley's Sweet Chunk Pickles

  1. Wash and cover whole cucumbers with boiling water.
  2. Let stand over night.
  3. Drain.Repeat for 3 more days.
  4. (Freshly boiled water each day).
  5. On 5th day drain; discard water.
  6. Cut pickles into bite size pieces, return to jar.
  7. Combine remaining ingredients.
  8. Bring to boil and pour over chunks in gallon jar.
  9. Let stand 2 more days.
  10. Drain liquid into sauce pot,bring to boil.
  11. Place chunks into sterlized jars.
  12. Add boiled liquid to half inch from top.
  13. Seal with sterilized lids.
  14. Process in hot water bath for 5 minutes.
  15. Start counting time when jars are placed in hot water.
