Our Family's Delicious Gyodon Beef Rice Bowl
- 500 grams Beef brisket or other cut of beef, thinly sliced
- 1 Onion
- 300 ml Water
- 3 tbsp each Soy sauce, sake, mirin, sugar
- 1 Pickled red ginger (beni-shouga)
- 1 tsp Hon-Dashi dashi stock granules
- Slice the onion thinly, and cut the meat into 4 cm wide pieces.
- Combine the dashi stock granules and all the flavoring ingredients in a frying pan and bring to a boil.
- When it comes to a boil, add the meat and onion and put on a drop lid (a small lid that fits on top of the pan contents) and simmer over medium heat...and it's done.
- Add some shirataki to taste.
- The simmering time is around 20-30 minutes, or until the sauce is almost gone.
- Put plenty of this on top of piping hot rice.
- Top with some beni-shouga red pickled ginger.
- How about inarizushi skins with the same flavoring ingredients?
- Use the same ingredients to simmer fish!
- It's sooo good!
- Simmered clams are terrific too.
