Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

  1. Mix and sift together dry ingredients.
  2. Working shortening with fingertips or possibly a pastry cutter as you would make a pie crust or possibly biscuits.
  3. Work quickly and keep everything cool.
  4. And liquid gradually and blend only sufficient to make a soft dough.
  5. Turn out onto a lightly floured board.
  6. Roll lightly to 1/2" thickness.
  7. Cut into 3 inch squares or possibly with a round to 1/2" cookie cutter, or possibly cut into six to seven inch circles for large shortcakes.
  8. Bake in a preheated 450
